New. Beautiful and meticulously made Custom Graziano Tenor Ukulele handcrafted in Santa Cruz, CA by legendary luthier Tony Graziano . Tony has been building musical instruments since 1969 and ukuleles, specifically, since 1978. He has since transitioned away from guitars to primarily focus on his passion for handcrafted ukuleles since 1995 almost exclusively. His instruments are world renowned and his instruments are loved by musicians and recreational ukulele players throughout the world, but especially those here in the USA and Japan.
This gorgeous custom Graziano tenor ukulele was handcrafted of the famed ‘The Tree’ wood back and sides with a curly Sequoia Redwood top and legendary Quilted Mahogany wood known as “The Tree” – a 500-year old tree that once towered 100 feet above the Chiquibul Jungle of what is now Belize. With a massive base of ten feet in diameter, this wood has been considered some of the most beautiful and sought after wood by luthiers worldwide with premium instrument sets selling between $5,000 – $10,000 and limited numbers of sets available from this special tree each year. The Tree Quilted Mahogany has been defined as a “once in a lifetime wood”, possessing visual characteristics unparalleled in its beauty and tone and often being favorably compared to coveted woods such as Brazilian Rosewood.
The unique quilting patterns vary from “The Tree” Quilted Mahogany and this set is less dramatic in nature and hence the substantially lower price point than some of the other premium wood sets on instruments that retail for tens-of-thousands of dollars. Revered Quilted “The Tree” Mahogany wood back and sides with a premium flamed Sequoia Redwood soundboard. Quilted “The Tree” Mahogany wood neck for added stability and increased sustain of the ukulele. Gabon Ebony wood fingerboard and bridge and a Quilted Mahogany wood headstock plate in keeping with the theme of the instrument. Simple black celluloid top and back binding with an matching elegant black-white-black pin-striped purfling on the sound board, and matching rosette. Bone nut and saddle. Position marker inlays on 3, 5, 7, 10, 12, and 15 for quick reference.
