Preowned. 2024. A rare Custom Sumi Tenor Ukulele crafted by Sumi Kobo, a prestigious luthier group under the renowned luthier Eiichi Sumi from Japan. For over 50 years, Sumi Kobo has been known for handcrafting some of the finest ukuleles, guitars, and mandolins in Japan. Their instruments are highly sought after by musicians and recreational players in Japan, as well as by ukulele enthusiasts worldwide.

This custom Sumi tenor ukulele was inspired by the early Gibsons of the 1950s and crafted with a premium set of curly Maple wood on the back and sides and a stained spruce soundboard. The instrument also boasts a stained musician-grade Honduras mahogany neck . Gabon ebony wood fingerboard and bridge with a rosewood headstock plate and Sumi mother-of-pearl inlay with themed flower inlay. Venetian cutaway for higher reach on the neck, and Maple wood top and back binding, and a bound fretboard and headstock. Vintage Gibson-inspired tuners with a 14 fret joint to the body and 19 overall frets for added reach in higher positions. Gloss finish with an off-grey hue on the finish. At certain angles, you occasionally see a tinge of purple as well. Vintage style pick guard in keeping with the theme of the instrument.

With a body and feel similar to a scaled-down vintage Gibson guitar ukulele from the 1950s, this instrument has a fantastic, warm tone with wonderful articulation, clarity, and projection.
