Custom Moore Bettah Tenor Ukulele

Circa 2017. Preowned. Custom Moore Bettah Tenor Ukulele. Beautiful Custom Moore Bettah tenor ukulele handcrafted by master luthier Chuck Moore of the Big Island, HI. Chuck handcrafts some of not only the most aesthetically pleasing ukuleles available on the market but also professional recording-level instruments for both the professional musician and recreational player.

This wonderful and extremely rare Moore Bettah tenor ukulele was crafted from the finest materials – gorgeous Macassar Ebony back and sides, with a master-grade Ulu wood soundboard. Ulu, or breadfruit, has been traditionally used for various purposes, including crafting canoes, surfboards, and musical instruments in Polynesia. The light yet strong wood is also used in construction and for making bowls and artwork. Beyond its wood, the entire ulu tree has been a vital resource, with the fruit providing sustenance and other parts used for medicine, cloth, and even bird trapping. The instrument also boasts a musician’s grade Gabon Ebony wood fretboard, bridge, top and back binding, bound fingerboard, and headstock plate. Subtle b-g-b accent lines on the soundboard, back, sides, fingerboard, side of the neck, and on the headstock. The neck is hand-carved from Spanish cedar wood and is carbon fiber reinforced for added stability. Gorgeous ulu fruit inlay on the headstock, rosette, and fingerboard of burl wood stained green in keeping with the theme of the instrument. The side sound port bound in Hawaiian Koa wood offers a ‘monitor-like’ effect by which the sound fires both outward toward the audience but also upward to the player, allowing the musician to hear every subtle tonal nuance. Classic headstock design with Planetary geared tuners provide smooth and precise tuning. A classic appeal with a high-gloss nitrocellulose lacquer finish has been applied to the instrument.

Ulu, being a wood light in weight, has tonal properties that have caught the attention of several top ukulele luthiers. When paired with Macasser ebony it has a sweet tone with exceptional lows with a crisp and responsive top-end. A world-class instrument with a rich and complex tonal range, excellent sustain, clarity, and projection. The instrument is very well balanced tonally all the way up the neck and spot on intonation as well. Highly recommended player piece. And this is as good as it gets for recording artists, weekend giggers, and the uke-lover at heart! #250031
