Luthier Steve Doreen, founder of Lone Tree Guitars & Ukuleles, lives and works in the Cowichan Valley on Vancouver Island BC. With a focus on design innovation and great tone he builds a limited number of instruments per year but some of the most sought after full custom ukuleles out of Canada. Each piece is handcrafted with the utmost care and attention to detail, yielding both an aesthetically pleasing instrument with a wonderful sound.
Handcrafted with sustainable measures in mind, this beautiful Custom Lone Tree Tenor Ukulele employs a grafted Pistachio wood back and sides that came from an orchard in Oregon and paired it with driftwood Cedar that was sourced locally on the beach in Canada. Native to Iran but also cultivated in the Mediterranean, Middle East, and parts of California, pistachio is a relatively small tree and is characterized with its high variability in colors ranging from green to purplish brown to orange. It is a very dense wood similar to Ebony in density and structure. It is known for its excellent tonal qualities, bright and crisp with a focused upper range. Gorgeous Purple Heart wood top and back binding with matching Purple Heart wood arm bevel for comfort when cradling the instrument. Carbon fiber reinforced African Mahogany wood neck with asymmetrical neck design that comfortably sits in the palm of your hand adding more support for the wrist angle when playing. Radiused fretboard set at 14″ with fan frets for added relief on the wrist angle and ease of play in the higher positions on the neck. The zero fret is the parallel fret in keeping with the direction of the hands as it moves towards the body. Side position markers have been inlaid on the side of the fretboard for a top down perspective and quick reference. Macassar ebony fretboard and bridge. Side sound port for monitor like experience. Beautiful Purple Heart wood rosette with Art Deco design for a subtle but elegant accent to the piece. Matching Purple Heart end graft and bound side port in Art Deco design. Purple Heart headstock veneer with Lone Tree logo inlaid from Maple wood. Soft florentine cutaway design. Nitrocellulose high-gloss finish on the body with true oil finish on the neck for smooth play. Geared Golden age restoration tuning machines for smooth and precise tuning.
This beautiful custom Lone Tree tenor ukulele has a scale of 17.5-17” with 1 3/8 nut with 1 5/8 string space at the bridge. This tenor ukulele is a joy to play and has a wonderful sound with great clarity and a nice midrange, where you get some sweet tones. Nice sustain and projection, this instrument is beautiful aesthetically but also has an inviting sound. ID#220015
