Preowned. 2001. Custom ukuleles for sale by Ko’olau Ukulele Company. Absolutely wonderful Custom Ko`olau Tenor Ukulele Model 400. Handcrafted here on the island of Oahu, John Kitakis and Noah Bonk are regarded as two of Hawaii’s most sought after luthiers.
The body is handcrafted with master grade Hawaiian curly Koa back and sides with gorgeous spruce soundboard. The fingerboard and bridge are made of ebony wood with matching ebony headstock plate, bound white celluloid fingerboard and top and back binding. The instrument boasts a paua shell rosette and paua shell top purfling, red purfling lines on the soundboard and rosette, and a classic slotted headstock with professional level – geared tuners for precise tuning.
The tone of this instrument is quite remarkable and given the age it has really opened up and would rival a modern day custom Ko’olau as well. Fantastic projection and sustain with wonderful note separation and crisp highs all the way up the neck. End pin and pin cap has been added to the butt of the instrument (see photos). ID#230024.
