Custom Ko’olau Tenor Ukulele – Maui Recovery Fundraiser

Preowned. 2012. Custom ukuleles by Ko’olau Ukulele company. Absolutely stunning Custom Ko’olau Tenor Ukulele handcrafted here on the island of Oahu by one of Hawaii’s foremost luthiers, Noa Bonk.

This custom Ko`olau tenor ukulele is the Deluxe model by designation with all the added amenities that really lends itself to being both aesthetically pleasing and a wonderful player and recording level ukulele. Only a handful of these premium models are handcrafted by master luthier Noa Bonk. The body is handcrafted with gorgeous Sitka spruce soundboard and master grade Pacific Coast Myrtle wood, one of North America’s most exotic woods and known for possessing tonal qualities similar to Maple wood – clear and bright with nice projection but slightly more round. Instrument grade ebony wood fretboard and bridge in keeping with the theme of a true recording level instrument. Top and back Ebony wood binding for aesthetic appeal with elegant top and side purfling lines. A Honduras mahogany wood neck for insured stability. Classy ebony wood headstock veneer and professional Gotoh geared tuners for quick and precise tuning.  The instrument also boasts a stylish mother-of-pearl inlay for the Ko’olau logo on the headstock. High gloss finish on body and satin style finish on the neck allows for the player’s hands to move freely up and down the neck without concern of ‘sticking’ as you play.

Tonally, this beautiful Custom Ko’olau Deluxe Tenor Ukulele is a wonderful instrument with a wonderful round tone and a balanced mid-range with crisp highs. Wonderful clarity, sustain, and projection all the way up the neck. The instrument has seen little play over the years and remains in original condition but does have two small indentations below the bridge. The two very small dimples are the size of a pencil tip and can barely be seen unless under high lighting and can only be found unless you were told they were there. A wonderful tone that rings true “Hawaii” with every strum and a custom piece that is rarely available.

The owner of this Ko’olau, Chris, has generously offered to donate this instrument in support of the Maui recovery efforts from the recent devastating fires that have claimed so much in Lahaina, Kula, and Kihei. No consignment fees will be received by Ukulele Friend as well. Profits associated with this sale will aid in the same recovery efforts. The instrument has also been discounted to aid in the quick sale of this instrument. My sincerest gratitude to Chris for his wholehearted support of the people of Maui and to Mika Kane who also generously donated his time to speak from the heart, being a Maui boy himself, and share this demo with you all. #230010
