Custom Kawika Pineapple Concert Ukulele

Beautiful Custom Kawika 14-fret joint Concert Pineapple Ukulele in wonderful original condition. This piece is tremendously rare and with David Hurd no longer accepting orders Kawika Ukuleles are amongst the best sounding, most desired and rare Hawaii-made ukuleles around.

Premium Hawaiian Koa face, back, & sides. Ebony fretboard and bridge with black top binding. Hawaiian curly Koa neck. French Polish finish. X-bracing. Black-white-black-white-black rosette. This is a definite player uke and a rare one to pass through. Kawika makes incredible ukes! I’ve owned a few thus far and each one (redwood, koa or douglas fir tops) has its own aesthetic appeal in my opinion. But there are certainly consistent character traits in David’s building in terms of sound that really carries through on each piece. This gorgeous uke also has exceptional volume and sustain. A wonderful sounding pineapple with a slightly larger body design than most concert sized pineapple ukuleles. I also love the flame in the wood of the instrument. The koa used on the uke is gorgeous and three-dimensional and the shell used on the soundboard and rosette is paua shell and the color is consistent all through out.

Kawika has stopped building ukuleles for quite some time now, around early 200s, but his ukuleles are amongst the most desired custom ukuleles around by Hawaii’s musicians. Kawika ukuleles have a nice crisp, clean and precise tone with excellent balance & sustain. I don’t come across Kawika’s pieces very often, maybe once or twice a year at most and they usually don’t stick around very long as well. #230024
