This special piece is the premier model offered by ʻI’iwi Ukuleles and is defined as, the Gold ‘Master’ Series. The ‘Master’ series is a testimony to the ʻI’iwi Ukulele commitment to the finest materials and craftsmanship in skilled luthiery by one of Hawaii’s foremost custom ukulele luthiers, Charlie Fukuba.
Gorgeous master grade 3-piece Brazilian Rosewood back with matching Brazilian Rosewood sides and tight-grained Adirondack spruce soundboard; this full custom ‘Master’ ʻI’iwi ukulele also boasts an instrument grade Gabon ebony fretboard and bridge with a matching Brazilian Rosewood headstock veneer. Elegant and complimentary top and side profile purfling lines for aesthetic appeal. The neck itself has been carved from Spanish Cedar which lends itself to greater structural integrity, diminished weight, and polished mid-range and slightly brighter notes – all complimentary to the deep resonant tones offered by the Brazilian Rosewood. Diamond-shaped abalone shell markers on positions 3, 5, 7, 10, 12, and 15 add for a quick and accurate reference point to each chord. Gorgeous ‘maile lei’ abalone shell rosette and matching abalone shell top purfling capture the true ‘Aloha Spirit’ by which this gorgeous instrument was handcrafted. Professional Gotoh (14:1) geared tuners for smooth and precise tuning with a hand-rubbed tru-oil finish, this piece has been meticulously handcrafted with the utmost attention to detail – bearing its signature inlay of the ʻI’iwi bird and the native Hawaiian ‘mamane’ flower at the headstock.
Tonally, this piece is a true gem and a remarkable piece for recording musicians or weekend jam sessions. Full recording level instrument with voiced tones, embellished mid-range and high notes and exceptional bass provided by coveted Brazilian Rosewood, one of the world’s finest tone woods. The Brazilian Rosewood back and sides give this instrument a deep resonant tone while the Adirondack spruce top adds a pronounced clarity and brightness to the sound of the instrument with excellent projection as well. Adirondack spruce is considered one of the premiere spruces worldwide and is reserved for the finest instruments as a soundboard. An excellent combination of tone woods, this beauty bears some play wear but remains in phenomenal original condition. There are a few light impressions on the soundboard. The tones are absolutely wonderful on this ukulele ~ very full with excellent clarity all the way up the neck. Highly recommended for the seasoned player or aspiring ukulele enthusiast.
