Custom Honua Longneck Soprano Ukulele

New Custom Honua Longneck Soprano Ukulele handcrafted on Oahu, Hawaii by Makoto Harada otherwise known as ‘Mac’. Mac, originally from Japan, moved to Hawaii in 2006 and has worked for several of the big name ukulele companies here in Hawaii before starting his own label and custom brand. He worked at KoAloha handcrafting ukuleles from 2006 – 2008, Kanile’a from 2008 – 2012, and Imua ukuleles from 2012 – 2017. Mac has since founded Honua Ukuleles as his own custom brand in 2013 and has been handcrafting ukuleles under his own custom line ever since.

The workmanship is impeccable, which is a trait often seen from Japanese luthiers. The build is very clean with tight joints, perfect intonation, and a bookmatch that is beautifully done. Each instrument is meticulously handcrafted and fully handcrafted by Mac and there are no other hands that touch any of the instrument. The appearance may be simple but it’s the skills in the hands that yield not only a beautiful aesthetic but also a wonderful tone. Everything from the wood selection through the build itself and the final finish and set up is meticulously done by Mac without compromise. Gorgeous solid Hawaiian Koa wood top, back, and sides with an musician’s grade Ebony wood fretboard and bridge. Elegant maple wood veneer inlay on the headstock of Mt. Mauna Kea of the Big Island of Hawaii. Solid Sapele wood neck for added stability, beautiful paua or abalone shell rosette, and a compensated saddle are a few of the details of this wonderful custom Honua longneck soprano ukulele. The tones are truly wonderful – full and bold for a little body with a classic Hawaiian Koa wood attack, wonderful clarity, and excellent projection. The concert scale with soprano body lends itself to more forgiving experience when playing with a wider fret spacing between frets in contrast to the traditional soprano.
