Preowned. Beautiful Hive Tenor Ukulele handcrafted by luthier Jake Maclay of West Virginia. Hive ukuleles exhibit the philosophy of exquisite tone, superb playability, and artful beauty. A sound born of meticulous craftsmanship, shaping a deep resonance from flawless intonation. Currently, there is roughly a 2 year backlog on orders for a custom Hive ukulele.

After graduating from the Robert-Venn School of Luthiery, Jake moved to Santa Cruz, California to work for master luthier Rick Turner and his business partner Barry Pearlman. Immersed in the prolific environment that bore Compass Rose Ukuleles and Renaissance Guitars, Jake has honed the building principles that define his work today.

This beautiful Hive tenor ukulele is a ‘Hornet’ model by designation and was meticulously handcrafted with the utmost attention to detail and tone. A 12 fret joint to the body, the instrument was handcrafted of a gorgeous set of Asian Blackwood back and sides and an Adirondack spruce soundboard – giving the instrument a bold, clear tone. This Hive ukulele also boasts a gorgeous jet black Gabon ebony wood fingerboard, bridge, and headstock plate with a stunningly beautiful contrasted flamed maple wood neck. Matching Asian Blackwood top and back binding with a Black-and-white ebony wood rosette inlay meticulously done. Tube aluminum inlay markers on fretboard and side of neck on 3, 5, 7, 10, 12, 15, and 17 for quick reference. Radiused fretboard for a comfortable feel with bar chords and a side sound port for a monitor like effect by which the sound fires outward to the audience but also upward towards the musician. Elegant top, back, and side purfling lines for aesthetic appeal. Professional Waverly tuners for precise and smooth tuning. End pin for strap.

Wonderful sustain and playability with great clarity up and down the neck. Excellent projection and note separation. A premium example of a handcrafted ukulele that exhibits wonderful playability, tone, and craftsmanship. #230007
