Maderian Rajao

Beautiful Maderian Rajao handcrafted by Henrique Rodrigues of Funchal, Madeira. Fashioned after the work of  historical luthier Octavinno Joao Nunes, this beautiful rajao was handcrafted of American Walnut wood back and sides with some of the finest European Spruce available on the soundboard. The neck was handcrafted from figured Chestnut, taken from the frame of an old piece of furniture on the island. The bridge and fretboard were handcrafted from Indian Rosewood with Brazilian Rosewood tuning pegs. The nut, saddle, bridge pins, and buttons were made of old boxwood from Porto Santo. The decorative rosette was made of Maderian Til wood and Porto Santo boxwood.

A beautifully handcrafted instrument by one of Madeira’s finest luthiers, this instrument is tremendously light in weight with remarkable projection and sustain.
