Circa 1920’s Gibson Soprano Ukulele handcrafted in the famed Kalamazoo, Michigan factory. This ukulele was constructed with mahogany wood on the face, back and sides, and the neck. The fingerboard was carved from rosewood. The instrument remains in all original condition with a twelve-fret joint to the body. Classic ‘The Gibson’ logo on the headstock. A competing model by Gibson with the Martin Style 2M soprano ukulele, this instrument also has a white celluloid top binding and rope marquetry rosette around the soundhole.
This era of Gibson ukulele is regarded as both highly collectible and incredibly wonderful as player instruments. They are among the most sought-after vintage ukuleles and popular with musicians and collectors alike. The all mahogany wood construction gives the instrument a nice, well-balanced, and warm tone with the classic lively and playful soprano sound. The sustain and projection of this instrument is truly remarkable as well. The instruments are strung up with historically accurate Gut strings that were especially made for the historical instrument in my personal collection. The sound and feel of these strings are as accurate of a sound to what this Gibson would have sounded like originally in the 1920s. Highly recommended player ukulele and a lovely piece for every ukulele collector. #250062
