This gorgeous DeVine 6-string baritone ukulele is a remarkable instrument. It has a pairing of octave strings on the D and G, making this instrument remarkable to finger pick as well as strum. The tuning is set at Dd, Gg, b, e and allows the player the flexibility to finger pick with ease while also having the fullness of rhythm as well. This beautiful piece has been handcrafted of prized Hawaii grown Cuban Mahogany wood back and sides and a premium curly Redwood soundboard, handpicked from a limited stock of Eric’s musician’s grade woods. The gorgeous golden colored Cuban Mahogany wood came from a tree that fell on the property of Queen Emma Summer Palace in Honolulu, Hawaii. Queen Emma Summer Palace, or Hanaiakamalama, was the summer retreat for Queen Emma of Hawaii during 1857-1885. Queen Emma Summer Palace is a now a historic landmark, added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1972. Cuban Mahogany wood is also highly prized for its tonal qualities and this set also has a gorgeous tight pin-curl in the wood, which is extremely rare to find in Mahogany. The pairing of the wide-band curls of the Redwood soundboard and the tight grain figure of the Cuban Mahogany offers an aesthetic that adds to the overall elegant ambiance of this beautiful piece. Solid Mahogany wood neck with graphite rod for added stability and increased sustain of the ukulele. Ebony fingerboard and bridge and a gorgeous blue and red opal gemstone in a “nouveau” style rosette adding to the artistic appeal of this functional work of art. A matching red-blue alternating opal purfling was also added on the soundboard in keeping with the theme of the instrument. Gorgeous curly Koa wood top and back binding with a matching bound fretboard for ease of play up and down the neck. Bone nut and saddle. Meticulous scroll inlay in alternating red and blue on the fingerboard, bridge, and matching position markers have been inlaid on positions 3, 5, 7, 10, 12, 15, and 17. Classic headstock design with ebony wood veneer and mother-of-pearl abalone shell DeVine logo inlay and a red and blue opal gemstone vine inlay. A side sound port for monitor-like effect and professional fine-tune Waverly geared machine tuners for precise tuning and classic appeal. Nitrocellulose high-gloss finish.
