This gorgeous custom DeVine tenor ukulele is handcrafted of the legendary Quilted Mahogany wood known as “The Tree” – a 500-year old tree that once towered 100 feet above the Chiquibul Jungle of what is now Belize. With a massive base of ten feet in diameter, this wood has been considered some of the most beautiful and sought after wood by luthiers worldwide with instrument sets selling between $5,000 – $10,000 and limited numbers of sets available from this special tree each year. The Tree Quilted Mahogany has been defined as a “once in a lifetime wood”, possessing visual characteristics unparalleled in its beauty and tone and often being favorably compared to coveted woods such as Brazilian Rosewood.
The gorgeous reddish hues of the colored “The Tree” Quilted Mahogany is absolutely stunning and adds to the overall elegant ambiance of this masterpiece. Revered Quilted “The Tree” Mahogany wood top, back, and sides with a matching Quilted “The Tree” Mahogany wood neck and graphite rod for added stability and increased sustain of the ukulele. Gabon Ebony wood fingerboard and bridge and a matching Ebony wood top headstock plate in keeping with the theme of the instrument. Jet-black Ebony wood top and back binding with a matching bound fretboard for ease of play up and down the neck. Bone nut and saddle. Beautiful gold-leaf scroll inlay on the fingerboard with gold-leaf position marker inlays on 3, 5, 7, 10, 15, and 17 and a classy “The Tree” inlay on position 12 attesting to the famed wood from this legendary tree. Matching gold-leaf scroll inlay bridge accent. Meticulous gold-leaf scroll rosette with Ebony wood inlay, adding to the ‘earthy’ feel and celebration of simple elegance defined in the natural beauty of the wood. Slotted headstock design with gold-leaf and silver DeVine logo inlay. Elegant black-white-black pin-striped purfling on top, back, and sides with a top gold-leaf purfling on the sound board.
