Preowned. 2022. Beautiful Custom DaSilva ‘James Hill’ Tenor Ukulele handcrafted by Mike DaSilva of Berkley, California, USA. This beautiful tenor ukulele is designated the ‘James Hill’ model after famed ukulele player, James Hill of Canada. It is the result of collaboration between Mike and James to create an ukulele that has the reduced weight and increased resonance but a slightly deeper body than most, giving it tremendous projection and clarity. The result was this masterpiece!
This beautifully handcrafted custom DaSilva ‘James Hill’ Tenor Ukulele was handcrafted with the utmost attention to detail in materials with comfort, tone, and playability in mind. Handcrafted of curly Hawaiian Koa wood back and sides and an Adirondack spruce soundboard, this wood makes for a remarkable combination for its tonal offerings and is a sought after combination by many in the guitar and ukulele community worldwide. The instrument also boasts an upgrade to a figured Hawaiian Koa wood neck. Faux tortoise shell top and back binding with matching rosette and beautiful accent purfling lines on the top and back of the instrument are a few more amenities that attest to the beauty of this custom DaSilva ukulele. An elegant beveled cutaway for ease reach in the higher registers and an aesthetic appeal all its own. Gaboon Ebony wood fingerboard with a Cocobolo wood bridge and headstock plate with a ‘DaSilva’ headstock logo inlay of paua shell are a few more wonderful attributes to this recording level instrument. Professional Gotoh UPT geared tuners for quick and precise tuning and a high gloss finish.
The instrument has a quick attack with a classic Hawaiian Koa wood mid-range and crisp highs as well. Excellent projection, sustain, and clarity. I can see why this instrument is regarded as the ‘James Hill’ model. A wonderful playing and sounding instrument for both the recreational player or the seasoned musician. ID#230014
