(Circa 2014). Beautiful Custom DaSilva ‘James Hill’ Tenor Ukulele handcrafted by Mike DaSilva of Berkley, California, USA. This beautiful tenor ukulele is designated the ‘James Hill’ model after famed ukulele player, James Hill of Canada . It is the result of collaboration between Mike and James to create an ukulele that has the reduced weight and increased resonance but a slightly deeper body than most. The result was this masterpiece!
This beautifully handcrafted custom DaSilva ‘James Hill’ Tenor Ukulele was handcrafted with the utmost in materials with comfort, tone, and playability in mind. Handcrafted of curly Hawaiian Koa wood back and sides and an Adirondack spruce soundboard, this wood combination is quite popular amongst musicians worldwide in both the ukulele and guitar communities for its tonal offerings. The instrument also boasts a Rosewood top and back binding with matching hand-cut wood rosette. An elegant beveled cutaway for ease reach in the higher registers and an aesthetic appeal all its own. Gaboon Ebony wood fingerboard and headstock plate with classic ‘DaSilva’ theme inlay and a Rosewood bridge are a few more wonderful amenities to this recording level instrument. Slotted headstock with professional Stealth geared tuners for quick and precise tuning. Matching Macassar Ebony and Rosewood inlay position markers on 3, 5, 7, 10, 12, and 15 for quick reference.
The instrument has a nice attack with balanced lows and mid-range and crisp highs as well. Excellent projection, sustain, and clarity. I can see why this instrument is regarded as the ‘James Hill’ model. A wonderful playing and sounding instrument for both the recreational player or the seasoned musician. ID#:180166
