Custom D. Ryerson Baritone Ukulele

New. Custom ukuleles by Dan Ryerson. Beautiful D. Ryerson Baritone Ukulele handcrafted by esteemed Guild of American Luthier and Ukulele Guild of Hawaii luthier, Dan Ryerson, who has since moved from Hawaii to Minnesota to be closer to family. His builds have a classic ‘Hawaiian’ tone with a full and warm sound. They are rarely available on the open market and enjoyed by professional musicians and recreational players alike.

The theme of this wonderful ukulele is hidden within the simple elegance and functional appeal of an instrument with a tonal personality all its own. Known for his attention to detail, Dan is a master at woodworking and is a career luthier who has been handcrafting ukuleles and guitars for over thirty years. He emphasizes the importance of working with the natural characteristics of the wood grain in extracting the optimal tones from each piece with an aesthetic sense all his own. Built with comfort and tone in mind, D. Ryerson ukuleles are easy to cradle and light in weight – a testament to Dan’s passion and understanding of classical and Spanish guitar construction. He applies this knowledge to his ukuleles and his instruments are known to have wonderful note separation, clarity, and sustain. This custom D. Ryerson baritone ukulele was handcrafted of a musicians grade Western red cedar soundboard and a gorgeous master grade straight grain set of East-Indian rosewood on the back and sides. This set of East-Indian rosewood has been in Dan’s private reserve of premium woods over the last thirty plus years. The neck was carved from Spanish Cedar in keeping with the light weight and structural integrity of the instrument.  Slotted headstock design with a Gabon ebony wood top and back headstock veneer. Gabon ebony wood fretboard with East-Indian rosewood bridge. Curly maple wood top and back binding, bound fretboard, and back center strip adds to a lovely contrast with the hues of the body of the instrument. Elegant b-w-b purfling lines through the instrument and a beautiful Hawaiian Koa wood rosette have been meticulously added to the instrument. Side sound port for monitor like experience with the sound firing upward toward the player as well as outward toward the audience. Professional Rubner geared tuners for smooth and precise tuning. Satin finish, making the instrument smooth-to-the-touch and easy to play up and down the neck.

Dan’s ukuleles are handcrafted with all the warmth of true ‘Aloha’, and his pieces come highly recommended by those who have had the privilege of owning one. He believes firmly in the philosophy of luthiery with a clear mind and good ‘mana’ or spirit and chooses only to build a very limited number of instruments per year. A tremendously difficult instrument to locate, even if you lived here in Hawaii and highly recommended.
