Custom Uilani Tenor Ukulele

Not to be confused with the import ‘Uilani’ from China, this custom Uilani tenor ukulele was fully handcrafted on the island of Oahu by luthier Loren Yoshimura and remains to be one of Hawaii’s ‘hidden secrets’ in the world of contemporary ukulele luthiery.

The back and sides of this instrument was handcrafted from Hawaiian Koa wood with a porous spruce soundboard for added high notes and clarity. All solid Hawaiian Koa wood neck, an ebony wood fingerboard and bridge, and white celluloid top binding for aesthetic appeal and a simple concentric purfling rosette add to the simple but elegant feel of this rare player’s ukulele.

There are no cracks or repairs but the instrument does bear some finish checking, strum wear, and neck wear in the finish as would be expected with an instrument previously owned by a local gigging musician. It’s clear that this uke was a mainstay for gigging and has an absolutely wonderful range of tones as well. Nice deep lows with crisp highs and excellent clarity and sustain. Cutaway for easy reach high up on the neck and a pick up for quick plug-and-play for both the working professional musician and the weekend ukulele enthusiast at heart.
