Beautiful Oahu Koa wood Les Rietfors Tenor Ukulele in wonderful condition. This piece is tremendously rare, a wonderful collector’s and player’s piece, and one of the first ever built at No. 5; dated and signed 8/24/95.
Extremely rare Oahu Koa wood. Blond, almost white shaded in appearance, master grade AAAAA Hawaiian Koa face, back, & sides with gorgeous vertical black streaking through the soundboard and back. Oahu Koa is amongst some of the rarest and priciest Hawaiian Koa around due to its distinct coloring, streaking and rarity.
This beautiful Les Rietfors uke also boasts a Hawaiian Flag wood inlay with crown shaped headstock symbolizing an era of monarchy, a coat of arms wood inlay on the upper bout, a wonderful dark red rosewood fretboard and bridge, Hawaiian Koa neck, and the original machine geared tuners for precision tuning. This is a definite keeper for both the collector and the true player. Les Rietfors ukuleles are amongst the most desired custom ukuleles to have been made and tremendously difficult to locate.
Unfortunately, Les Rietfors has since passed away in 2005 but his love of music, the Hawaiian culture and people, and the art of fine luthiery lives on through his legacy of beautifully handcrafted instruments.
