Custom ukulele by Les Rietfors Ukulele. Beautiful Les Rietfors Double-neck Tenor Ukulele in original condition. This piece is tremendously rare and No. 6 of 10 ever made. The No. 1 was made for famed Hawaii musician Kelly Boy De Lima of the group Kapena. This beauty was fashioned for local musician, David “Kawika” Ortiz.
Premium Hawaiian Koa face, back, & sides with maple wood fretboard and bridge. Beautiful curly Mango wood top binding with rope marquetry on soundboard and matching rosette. Hawaiian flag wood inlay on headstock. Honduran mahogany neck and Grover open-geared machine tuners for precision tuning. The uke has been ‘gigged’ with on stage and at the awe of those in the crowd!
This instrument was especially handcrafted for David “Kawika” Ortiz who is both and amazing guitar and ukulele player. It is tremendously bright and has excellent volume and sustain. The instrument comes with installed pick-up for quick plug-n-play as well. Pick up was installed by Ty Shiroma of Guitar Works. Impeccable job!
This is a definite keeper for both the collector and the true player. Les Rietfors’ ukuleles are amongst the most desired custom ukuleles to have been made and tremendously difficult to locate. Unfortunately, Les Rietfors has since passed away in 2005 but his love of music, the Hawaiian culture and people, and the art of fine luthiery lives on through his legacy of beautifully handcrafted instruments.
