Custom Kula ‘Warrior Machine’ Tenor Ukulele

A work of art! Beautiful custom tenor Kula ukulele handcrafted by master luthier Crist Pung of the Big Island, HI. Crist handcrafts very unique aesthetically pleasing ukuleles that also play wonderfully for both the professional musician and recreational player.

This wonderful custom tenor ukulele was handcrafted from a gorgeous Cocobolo wood back and sides with a master grade Carpathian spruce top, which has added wonderful clarity and a balanced mid-range and high notes to the ukulele. The Cocobolo wood, a relative of the rosewood family, is renowned for its full low end range, and gives a greater depth and wider breath to the overall sound of the instrument. Musicians grade Macassar Ebony wood fretboard, bridge, and top head-plate with a Cocobolo wood back head-plate in keeping with the natural hues of the body of the instrument. Gorgeous Hawaiian Koa wood top and back binding, segmented rosette, end graft, bound fingerboard, and side sound port. Stylish black-red-yellow royal Hawaiian themed purfling lines on top, back, sides, headstock, fingerboard, and more, paying tribute to the royal colors of the ali’i, or hereditary ruling class of traditional Hawaiian society.  The neck was carved from Honduran Mahogany wood and book matched with a center stringer of Purple Heart wood for added stability and a classy yet subtle volute in transition from the neck to the back of the slotted headstock for added appeal. 14 frets to the body and 18 overall frets to the soundhole.  Vintage bone nut and saddle, a slotted headstock, and professional Schertler tuners with Swiss-ebony buttons for precise tuning are a few more amenities to this beautiful instrument.

The inlay…absolutely meticulous! The headstock, fingerboard, and end graft inlay theme of this ukulele is the ‘Hawaiian Warrior’. Inlay constitutes of Hawaiian Koa wood, reconstructed stone, mother-of-pearl, and East-Indian Rosewood and was done in complimentary fashion to that of the theme of the instrument. A truly wonderful piece of art themed perfectly on a beautifully functioning and professional grade recording instrument.

Wonderful depth of tones from this wood combination with mid-range and high tones from the Carpathian spruce top. Excellent sustain and projection and a true joy to play. The instrument is also very well center balanced which makes for a very comfortable instrument as you cradle it up against your body. A wonderful piece for professional musicians, weekend giggers, and the uke-lover at heart!
