A work of art! Beautiful custom tenor Kula ukulele handcrafted by master luthier Crist Pung of the Big Island, HI. Crist handcrafts very unique aesthetically pleasing ukuleles that also play wonderfully for both the weekend musician and recreational player.
This wonderful custom tenor ukulele is crafted from a gorgeous Hawaiian Koa wood face, back, and sides with an Ebony wood fretboard, bridge, and head-plate. Ebony wood top and back binding and BWB purfling on face, back, and sides of the body and stylish matching end graph and heel cap. The neck is carved from Honduran mahogany wood and is carbon fiber reinforced for added stability. LMI EVO gold alloy frets with 14 frets to body and 18 overall frets to the soundhole. Hand-split spruce bracing on top and back, vintage bone nut and saddle, mother of pearl side dots, professional closed-geared Grover gold tuners for precise tuning, paua rosette with BW purfling, and much more.
The theme inlay for the piece is of the Japanese “Geisha” with intricate hand-cut inlays on the headstock of reconstone and mother of pearl. The Japanese ‘kanji’ character ‘愛’ or ‘love’ has also been meticulously inlaid on the 12th position for quick reference. Absolutely stunning inlay work!
Rich and complex tones with excellent sustain, clarity, and projection. The instrument is very well balanced tonally all the way up the neck and spot on intonation as well. Highly recommended player piece. And this is a wonderful piece for artists, weekend giggers, and the uke-lover at heart!
