A work of art! Beautiful custom tenor Kula ukulele handcrafted by master luthier Crist Pung of the Big Island, HI. Crist handcrafts very unique aesthetically pleasing ukuleles that also play wonderfully for both the weekend musician and recreational player.
This wonderful custom tenor ukulele is crafted from a gorgeous Hawaiian Koa wood face, back, and sides with an Ebony wood fretboard, bridge, and head-plate. Ebony wood top and back binding and Blue purfling on face and back with maple wood purfling on the sides of the body and stylish matching ebony wood end graph and heel cap. The neck is carved from Honduran mahogany wood and is carbon fiber reinforced for added stability. LMI EVO gold alloy frets with 14 frets to body and 18 overall frets to the soundhole. Vintage bone nut and saddle, mother of pearl side dots, professional closed-geared Grover gold tuners for precise tuning, abalone or ‘paua’ shell inlay on top and back with matching rosette and much more.
The theme inlay for the piece is of a Hawaiian fisherman as he seeks the day’s catch off of the coastline of the Big Island of Hawaii. Swimming nearby is a school of ‘Ahi’ or yellow-fin tuna and blue-fin tuna inlaid on the fretboard and bridge. Various orientations of paua shell were used to accomplish the intricate inlay for the school of fish. The boat inlay was done out of reconstructed stone with tremendous care, and gold was used for the fishing reel.
Warm tones from an all Koa instrument with a subtle sustain and moderate projection. A wonderful piece for artists, weekend giggers, and the uke-lover at heart!
