This custom Ko`olau tenor ukulele is the CS model by designation with all the added amenities that really lends itself to being both aesthetically pleasing and a wonderful player and recording level ukulele. Only a very limited number of custom ukuleles are handcrafted by master luthier Noa Bonk each year.
The back and sides of the soundbox is handcrafted with a gorgeous dark-red- and jet-black grained streaked Rosewood perfect for those deep and rich tones. The soundboard is a musician’s grade Redwood that truly compliments the natural hues of the Rosewood back and sides. Instrument grade Macassar ebony wood fretboard and bridge with slight radius on fretboard for ease of wrist angle and added comfort. Top and back master grade curly Hawaiian Koa wood binding for aesthetic appeal with a beautiful abalone ‘paua’ shell rosette. A simple but elegant top, back, and side purfling lines also give this instrument a classy appeal. A Honduras mahogany wood neck for insured stability. Gaboon ebony wood headstock veneer and upgrade to professional Waverly open-geared tuners with custom Koa wood buttons for precise tuning. The instrument also boasts a stylish mother-of-pearl inlay for the Ko`olau logo on the headstock. Beautiful satin style finish on body with satin style finish on the neck allows for the player’s hands to move freely up and down the neck without concern of ‘sticking’ as you play.
Tonally, this beautiful Custom Ko’olau CS Tenor Ukulele is a true recording-level instrument with nice deep rich low tones and well balanced mid-range and high tones as well. Wonderful clarity, sustain, and projection all the way up the neck. A traditional tone that rings true “Hawaii” with every strum and a custom piece that is rarely available.
