Custom Ko’olau Ukulele for sale. Absolutely stunning Custom Ko’olau Tenor Ukulele handcrafted here on the island of Oahu by one of Hawaii’s foremost luthiers, John Kitakis and his son Noa Bonk.
This custom uke is a model 100 by designation but was ordered by a friend of the Ko’olau Ukulele & Guitar Co. with all the bells and whistles added that really lends itself to that more like the – Contemporary Series – than anything else, especially with the radiused fretboard and master grade Hawaiian Koa wood body.
The body is handcrafted with gorgeous flaming Hawaiian curly Koa back and sides with master grade cedar wood top. The fingerboard and bridge is radiused at 16” for ease of play and crafted from rosewood for optimal tone. There is also a matching rosewood headstock plate and single top soundboard binding of ebony wood for aesthetic appeal. The instrument also boasts a paua shell rosette and classic mother-of-pearl inlay for the position markers and Koʻolau logo on the headstock. Classic Ko`olau geared tuners for precise tuning and professional pick-up L.R. Baggs active saddle with thumbwheel volume control which is accessed just inside the edge of the soundhole.
The Koa wood is truly three dimensional in nature and has a tone and sustain that is clear, crisp, and well projected. Nice deep rich low tones and well balanced mid-range and high tones as well. Excellent projection, sustain, and clarity all the way up the neck.
A traditional tone that rings true “Hawaii” with every strum and a custom piece that is rarely available. Includes Ko’olau tenor ukulele hard case.
