Custom ukuleles for sale by Ko’olau Ukulele Company. Absolutely stunning Custom Ko`olau Tenor Ukulele (Model 400) in mint condition. Handcrafted here on the island of Oahu, John Kitakis and Noah Bonk are regarded as two of Hawaii’s foremost luthiers.
The body is handcrafted with master grade Hawaiian curly Koa back and sides with gorgeous spruce soundboard. The fingerboard and bridge are made of ebony wood with matching ebony headstock plate, bound black celluloid fingerboard and top and back binding. The instrument boasts a paua shell rosette and paua shell top purfling, a bridge pin set-up, and a classic slotted headstock with professional level – Waverly tuners for precise tuning. (The Waverly tuners alone cost over two hundred fifty dollars).
The Koa wood is truly three dimensional in nature and has a tone and sustain that is clear, crisp, and well projected. Nice deep rich low tones and well balanced mid-range and high tones as well. Excellent projection, sustain, and clarity all the way up the neck. A traditional tone that rings true “Hawaii” with every strum and a custom piece that is rarely available.
