Beautiful Custom Koa Rhythms 4-String Tenor Ukulele handcrafted by luthier Calvin Okahara of Kailua-Kona, HI. Calvin handcrafts beautifully playing and aesthetically pleasing instruments for both the weekend musician and the recreational player in very limited numbers with only 2-3 instruments made per year.
This gorgeous Custom Koa Rhythms tenor ukulele is absolutely stunning and boasts a master grade Hawaiian curly Koa wood face, back and sides. The neck has been hand-carved from Honduras mahogany for added structural integrity and sustain and is very comfortable, gliding into higher positions up the neck with ease. The fretboard and bridge have been hand-carved of musician’s grade gaboon ebony wood and a top and back binding hand-cut from figured maple wood with a matching maple wood end graph. This rare ukulele also entails an abalone rosette and top shell purfling, abalone shell position markers on the fingerboard for quick reference, a meticulous Hawaiian sunset themed inlay on the headstock of reconstructed stone, mother-of-pearl, and abalone ‘paua’ shell in keeping with the theme of the piece. The heel cap mother-of-pearl shell has also been hand-cut and is a signature mark of Koa Rhythms Ukuleles. Professional geared tuners for precise tuning. High gloss nitrocellulose lacquer finish.
All of Calvin’s ukuleles are meticulously crafted and are rarely available on the market. Only 2-3 pieces made per year. Calvin’s instruments have perfectly set intonation and offer precise tones all the way up the neck. Nice crisp and clean notes with deep lows a balanced mid-rage and high notes as well.
This beautiful preowned Custom Koa Rhythms tenor has since been gently wet sanded and rebuffed to return it to it’s former glory. Koa Rhythms Ukuleles are handcrafted with all the warmth of true ‘Aloha’. A highly recommended piece that rarely appears on the grand landscape of ukulele luthiery.
