Custom Kawika Tenor Ukulele

カビカ・テナー・ウクレレ (特別注文)

Custom ukuleles by Kawika ukulele. Beautiful Kawika Tenor Ukulele in great original condition. This piece is tremendously rare and with David Hurd no longer accepting orders Kawika Ukuleles are amongst the best sounding, most desired and rare Hawaii-made player ukuleles around.

The beautiful Kawika ukulele was handcrafted of gorgeous Hawaiian Koa back, & sides with redwood soundboard. 20-fret ebony wood fingerboard with abalone dot inlays, ebony wood bridge, and faux tortoise shell top binding. 14-fret jointed solid koa wood neck, gloss natural finish, chrome professional geared Grover tuners with ebony wood buttons. This beauty rings classic ‘Hawaii’. 9-1/8″ lower bout, 1-13/32″ nut width, 17-3/16″ nut width. Handcrafted on the ‘Big Island’ of Hawaii.

What can I say, Kawika ukuleles makes incredible ukes! I’ve owned 4-5 thus far and each one (redwood, koa or douglas fir tops) has its own aesthetic appeal in my opinion. But there are certainly consistent character traits in David’s building in terms of sound that really carries through on each piece.

The redwood top does make for a nice sounding piece. I’ve come across a couple of other ukes built with a redwood top and this one is certainly one that stands out tonally in a great way! Crisp, clean and precise. The uke also has exceptional volume and balance all the way up the neck. There is certainly a player’s – “presence” – about it.

Kawika ukuleles has stopped building ukuleles for quite some time now but his ukuleles are amongst the most desired custom ukuleles around. Kawika ukuleles have a nice crisp, clean and precise tone with excellent balance & sustain. I don’t come across Kawika’s pieces very often, maybe once or twice a year at most and they usually don’t stick around very long as well.
