Custom Kamaka Ohta Ukulele by Samuel Kamaka

Extremely rare Custom Kamaka Ohta Concert Ukulele handcrafted by Samuel Kamaka; the only name synonymous with ‘ukulele’ worldwide, the Kamaka Ukulele Co. This gorgious piece plays amazingly and has been refinished by Kamaka to near perfection.

Rare 1990s Kamaka Ohta-san Ukulele in refinished condition by the Kamaka family. Great player ukulele and constructed of gorgeous Hawaiian Koa wood. Beautiful spruce top with Hawaiian Koa back, sides, and a rosewood top and back binding, rosewood rosette, and a matching rosewood end graph. Musician’s grade Ebony fretboard and bridge and bound ebony wood fretboard for smooth play up and down the neck.

It was just refinished by Kamaka and doesn’t have a scratch on it. It’s in perfect condition. This uke is a full custom, not to be confused with the production model Ohta-san models being made at the factory. This one is a full custom in all aspects of the build.

  • top back binding (production made Ohta has only a top binding)
  • the scale length is 15 1/16 inches (different from the production made Ohta model)
  • the neck has been handcarved (and not CNC machine routed) for added comfort and ease of movement up and down the neck.
  • top purfling line on the soundboard and a gorgeous wide-ring rosewood rosette (different from production made Ohta Model)
  • bound ebony fretboard  (production made Ohta-san ukes do not have a bound fretboard)
  • center seam backstrip (not a feature available for the production made Ohta-san ukes)
  • Five-O pick up with a volume control that is inside of the soundhole. (The external volume knob does not work. It was a knob that was used with the previous pick up system but the Five-O pick up was so much better that Kamaka chose to install this one instead of try to replace the old pick up.

Very rich tones and great sustain. Extremely easy to play with the handcrafted custom neck. Wonderful clarity and very well balanced notes all the way up the neck. If you are looking for a phenomenal playing concert ukulele with chocolatey yet precise tones, this is certainly one of them!
