Custom G-String Tenor Ukulele
Classic Custom G-String Tenor Ukulele from 1998 and handcrafted by Derek Shimizu himself. Rare black curly koa back and sides, spruce top and ebony fretboard and bridge. Black faux top binding and b-w-b purfling on top and around soundhole. Soundhole also has curly maple wood rosette. Honduras mahogany neck. Mango wood accent plate on bridge tie. koa and maple headstock cap with ‘Old-style’ [G] and [Honolulu, Hawaii] koa wood logo. Pick-up installed with under saddle system. Grover machine tuners. Vintage style label on inside that predates koa wood plates currently used on G-String Ukuleles. Blond koa wood accent on tail strip where pick-up jack is located. This is a used piece and the back and sides are in near mint condition. The neck has a couple of small dings that are really minimal but should be mentioned. Also, the soundboard has some wear and the old pick-guard has been replaced with a new one.
The shape of the piece is quite different from the newer custom models and has a bell shape on the lower bout. This makes for some exceptional deeper tones. The action is set well and it’s a dream to play. I would say this is perhaps the best sounding G-String tenor that has come my way thus far. The high notes are wonderful and the deep tones are very chocolatey and complex. It’s currently strung with a low-g configuration. A very rare find and a true player uke that is equally tough to find.

1998年に製作されたクラシックなG－Stringのテナーウクレレです。珍しいブラックカーリーコアがボディーのバックとサイドに使われ，トップはスプルースです。フレットボードとブリッジはエボニーです。ボディーのトップには黒のバインディングと白黒のピンストライピング、そしてサウンドホールの周りにも白黒のピンストライピングが施されています。サウンドホールにはカーリーメープルのロゼットがも入っています。ネックはホンジュラスのマホガニーです。ブリッジタイにはマンゴー、ヘッドストックキャップはコアとメープルで昔のG－Stringのロゴが入っています。ピックアップのついているエンドストリップの部分はブロンドコアです。このウクレレは中古品ですがボディーのバックとサイドは新品同様です。ネックに二カ所傷がついてます。サウンドボードにも多少、傷が入っておりますが状態は良くておすすめします。ピックガードは新しいものに取り替えました。このウクレレは下の方がベルシェイプになっており新しいカスタムのモデルとは少し違っています。下の方がベルシェイプになっているためなかなか出にくい低い音がでます。弦の高さもちょうど良くとても弾きやすく、個人的にはいままで弾いてみた多くのG-Stringの中で一番音がよいウクレレだと思います。高い音も素晴らしく，低い音も深いリッチな音がします。これほどいい音のウクレレはなかなか珍しく，とにかくいい音のウクレレを弾きたいという方におすすめです.
