New Custom G-String ‘Factory Second’ Concert Ukulele of G-String Ukulele Co.
This beautiful ukulele is just a few notches away from perfection and is being sold as a ‘factory second’, bearing a few imperfections over the course of its build. That being said, the structural integrity of the instrument has not been compromised and the tones are as rich and complex as the as those currently being played by musicians and ukulele enthusiasts worldwide. If a few cosmetic issues are not of great concern to you and you’re looking for a phenomenal player ukulele you’ll save thousands on this ukulele! A custom uke of this nature without flaws would run close to $6,000 retail.
This custom G-String ‘Factory Second’ Concert Ukulele has been handcrafted of gorgeous Zircote wood back and sides and attributes wonderfully to the mid-range and bass tones offered by this unique custom. The Sitka spruce soundboard provides brightness to the wood combination and compliments the Zircote beautifully. The neck is carved from honduran mahogany for added stability and the fretboard and bridge are fashioned from musicians grade ebony wood. The instrument also boasts a curly Hawaiian koa wood top and back binding with a matching top and back veneer on the headstock with an abalone shell inlay. Gorgeous concentric circle wood and abalone shell combination rosette, abalone shell top purfling on soundboard and headstock, and faux tortoise shell headstock binding. Elegant G-String Ukulele Co. paua shell inlay on the headstock and paua shell position markers on 5, 7 and 10 for quick reference. The instrument also has professional open-geared Grover machine tuners for precise tuning less the weight of the conventional closed-geared tuner, a high gloss nitrocellulose finish and a Fishman pick up for quick plug and play.
Areas of imperfection would include a few spots in which the glue adhering the binding to the body itself shows slightly under the finish, a small impression on the end graph of the uke (near the pick up), and its largest flaw being an asymmetrical headstock. Upon close inspection you will see that the left and right sides of the headstock as it moves up from the nut are not symmetrical. Please see detailed photos for reference.
Excellent playability and wonderful sustain. The tones and clarity are absolutely amazing on this instrument. Nice deep lows with well balanced mid-range and crisp highs all the way up the neck. The string action is set very well and makes the instrument a true joy to play.
I highly recommend G-String Ukuleles, they are wonderful instruments and are absolutely amazing player pieces. This one is priced to move quickly. As a factory second this ukulele has been marked down heavily from a near $6,000 retail price! Perfect for the musician or uke enthusiast on a limited budget.
