Custom Black Bear Gauguin Ukulele

Beautiful Black Bear Gauguin Pineapple Ukulele by Duane Heilman of Yakima, Washington. Duane has an extensive background repairing, designing, and building stringed instruments and has been doing so since the early 90s. His interest in handcrafting his own ukuleles began in ’98 when he completed his first ukulele. Since then, Duane has continued to create some of the most inspiring, unique, and wonderful ukuleles on the custom market. His passion for creating each instrument with its own personality often results in some unique wood combinations or as in this case, a wonderful homage painting to the South Pacific often portrayed by the famous French post-impressionist – Eugene Henri Paul Gauguin.

Handcrafted in 2006 this wonderful ukulele has a Mahogany top, back, and sides which gives it a nice warm sound. The fingerboard wood is a gorgeous Hawaiian curly Koa wood and the neck is Honduras mahogany for added strength. The entire instrument has been hand painted in keeping with the wonderful theme of this instrument.

Warm and mellow tones and a tribute to one of histories finest artists of the South Patific. Duane captures the essence of the days of yesteryear and ties them beautifully in to a wonderfully playing soprano pineapple ukulele.
