Incorporating his knowledge and understanding of string instrument luthiery, Kaoru utilizes the finest materials and aspires to handcraft beautiful instruments that are both aesthetically pleasing and sound wonderful.

This wonderful Custom Antar Soprano Pineapple Ukulele is crafted from a gorgeous curly set of Hawaiian Koa wood face, back, and sides. The ukulele also incorporates a radiused Brazilian rosewood fretboard and bridge and a European inspired patterned top binding, creating a unique contrast with the Hawaiian Koa wood body. The radius fretboard offers greater comfort navigating bar chords and chording in higher positions on the neck. Paua or ‘abalone’ shell top purling with matching European inspired rosette design. The neck was carved from a flamed Hawaiian Koa wood and the body profile resembles that of a vintage Kamaka from the 1930s. Paua shell position marker inlay on the fretboard for quick reference on positions 5, 7, 10, and 12, and 15 with a 14 fret joint to the body. Bone nut and saddle and a poreless gloss finish. The instrument also boasts musician’s grade Gotoh UPT tuners for smooth and precise tuning.

This custom Antar pineapple soprano ukulele is surprisingly light in weight and highly resonant. It has excellent clarity and projection that you would otherwise not expect from a soprano sized instrument. The Hawaiian Koa wood gives it a punchy yet balanced sound with that classic Hawaiian Koa “bark”. Fantastic clarity and note separation. The instrument is also easy to play all the way up the neck and the added 2 frets to the body (total 14 frets to the body) makes chording higher on the neck easy to navigate. Highly recommended player piece from one of Japan’s upcoming luthiers. One small surface scratch below the low G string at the bridge. See photos. ID#:220033
