1940s Martin 3M Ukulele
Vintage Martin 3M Ukulele. Here is a very rare 1940’s Martin 3M (Mahogany Model) Soprano Ukulele with original case, strings, and pick. This one is a nice 9 out of 10 condition. Classic mahogany face, back and sides with celluloid binding on top and back. Ebony fretboard and C.F. Martin & Co decal on headstock and in perfect condition. There is also a C.F. Martin & Co stamp on the inside of the soundhole as well but without the “Made in USA” since it’s pre-1960.
No repairs. No needed repairs. There is some finish checking and a few small nicks or scratches but nothing major. It’s a phenomenal ukulele but also a rare collectible uke. The is not the reissue uke that has somewhat flooded the market. It is an authentic vintage Martin uke with all appointments of a wonderful uke era.
This instrument was previously owned by Al Hendrickson, who played guitar with Benny Goodman & Artie Shaw. Together they did hundreds if not thousands of movie soundtracks, some of which probably featured this instrument. Perfect action and intonation. Nice projection. Deep lows and crisp highs.

とても珍しい１９４０年代に製作されたマーチンの３M（マホガニーモデル）のソプラノウクレレです。ケース、ストリング、ピックも当時の物でほぼオリジナルの状態のままのウクレレです。ボディーはマホガニーでセルバ インディングがトップとバックに入っています。フレットボードはエボニーでヘッドストックにあるマーチン社のマークもとてもいい状態で保たれています。サ ウンドホールのなかにもマーチン社のスタンプが押されてありますが、１９６０年代以前に製作されたウクレレなので“アメリカ製”とは入っていません。修理 された跡も、また修理の必要もありません。 細 かいストラムマーク、フィニッシュに細かい傷がありますが目立つ傷などは全くありません。弾くのにも素晴らしいウクレレだと思いますが特にこのウクレレは コレクター品として価値のある物ではないかと思います。このウクレレは市場に多く出回っている再製産されたウクレレではなく、マーチン社全盛期のビンテー ジウクレレです。このウクレレの持ち主であった Al Hendrickson氏はギタリストであるBenny Goodman & Artie Shawと共に多くの映画のサウンドトラックを録音した人で、このウクレレもいくつかの曲を弾くのに使われたそうです。音も良く響き、イントネーションも素晴らしく、低い音もよく響き,高い音もきれいに出ます.
