Custom Island Traditions Ukulele. Beautiful and extremely rare Custom Island Traditions tenor ukulele by Robin Gleason of the Big Island of Hawaii. Robin is the son of famed ukulele builder Bob Gleason of Pegasus Ukuleles and has made only a limited number of instruments over the years. This one remains in mint condition and was handcrafted in 2007.
This gorgeous piece is handcrafted of master grade curly Koa face, back and sides with perfectly quartersawn Honduras mahogany wood neck. Abalone shell rosette with matching abalone shell ‘Honu’ (Sea Turtle) inlay on the fingerboard. Classic Island Traditions Mt. Mauna Kea inlay of abalone and recon stone on headstock. Ebony wood fingerboard and bridge with a 12′ radius on fretboard for ease of play. Purple heart wood top and back binding. Open geared tuners for precise tuning and high gloss nitrocellulose lacquer finish.
Excellent player ukulele and a very rare piece. A traditional ‘all koa’ sound with mellow tones. Very easy to play up and down the neck.
