Beautiful and rare 1960s Kamaka ‘Gold Label’ tenor ukulele handcrafted by Kamaka Ukuleles of Honolulu, HI. This instrument was constructed of gorgeous quarter-sawn Hawaiian Koa wood on face, back, and sides with a rosewood fingerboard and is from the ‘Gold Label’ era of the 1950s and 60s. The instrument was refinished by the Kamaka factory and meticulously cared for by a collector of fine ukuleles. 1930s Royal Hawaiian Ukulele

One of many luthiers who studied under the tutelage of the Kamaka family, Sam Chang was a builder who learned his craft through employment at the Kamaka factory before going his separate way. Over the years, Sam was known to build for the Summers Brothers, including labels such as the Moana, Famous Waikiki Ukulele, and the Royal Hawaiian in addition to the Sam Chang label.
