Custom Kawika 6-String Tenor Ukulele

Custom Kawika Ukulele. Beautiful Kawika 6-String Tenor Ukulele was built in May of 1996 and remains in wonderful original condition. This piece is tremendously rare and with David Hurd no longer accepting orders Kawika Ukuleles are amongst the most desired, best sounding and rare Hawaii-made ukuleles around.

Premium Hawaiian Koa face, back, & sides with ebony fretboard and bridge. Hawaiian Koa neck. Nitrocellulose lacquer finish. The term “GRE” is hand-written on the card. David emailed and informed me that this stands for “Graphite Carbon Epoxy Composite Rod” that is installed in the neck below the fretboard. This insert stabilizes the neck and adds to the tone of the instrument. This beautiful ukulele has a sound that is symphony-like in nature. Very complex and thorough in sound with clean low, mid-range and high tones. Action is set incredibly low and it’s a true wonder for playability. The uke also has a Dean Markley SST pick-up system pre-installed. The ‘Kawika’ ukulele sticker on the headstock shows some wear. There are light strum marks on the soundboard and minor blemishes from play. I would rate this beautiful piece a clean 8 out of a perfect 10 condition. Kawika Ukuleles are definite keeper ukuleles for both playability and collect-ability and one of the best sounding ukes I have ever come across.

カビカの６弦テナーのウクレレです。これは１９９６年に製作されたものですがとてもよい状態で保たれています。このウクレレは音がとにかく素晴らしく良く、カビカの製作者、David Hurd 氏がオーダーを受けていないため入手しにくく，ハワイ製のウクレレの中でも１、２を争う人気のウクレレです。

ハワイ産の特上コアがウクレレのボディーに使われ、ブリッジとフレットボードにはエボニーが使われています。ネックはコアです。ウクレレについてくるカードには手書きで”GRE”と書かれています。David氏のEメールによる説明だとフレットボードとネックの間にネックをより安定させるロッド（GRE) が入っており、音質もよくなる，ということでした。確かにこのウクレレはシンフォニーの奏でるような音がします。とてもコンプレックスな音が出る上、低い音，高い音もそれぞれきれいに出ます。アクションはとても低くとても弾きやすいです。 さらにDean Markley SSTのピックがついており、フレンチ塗装で仕上がっています。ヘッドストックのカビカのシールが少し剥がれていて、ストラムマークが多少ついています が、完璧な状態のウクレレが１０点だったとしたらこのウクレレは８点くらいだと思います。コレクターにもプレイヤーにもお勧めで、多くあるウクレレの中で も音は飛び抜けていいものです！
