1960s Custom Kamaka Soprano Uke

This stunning example is handcrafted in the 1960s and was a custom ordered piece complete with upgraded AAA curly Koa wood top back and sides, rosewood fretboard and bridge, top and back faux tortoise shell binding with black-white top and back purfling for aesthetic appeal.

A high gloss refinish has been applied to the instrument and although not an original finish it certainly is ‘pretty’. The gloss finish truly accentuates the colors and flame in the Koa wood. I believe the refinish may have been done by Kamaka since the refinish request sticker still remains inside the soundhole on the neck block. This was common for Kamaka’s refinish/repair process. I can see no repairs that have been done to the instrument and there is only minimal fretboard wear. Includes original vintage pineapple shape hardcase with beautiful yellow felt lining on the inside.

Very nice tones. Classic Kamaka vintage sound from a golden era in Hawaii’s history as it became the 50th State of the U.S.
