This gorgeous DeVine tenor ukulele is handcrafted of the famed “Mother-of-Curl” tree – a premium tree found on Oahu with intense curls in the Hawaiian Koa wood. The tree came from the Tantalus mountains in Honolulu and is characterized with tight, consistent curls and dark vertical streaking. The soundboard was handcut from a board of wood repurposed from an old water shed on the island of Maui by which Eric only extracted a few boards for his ukuleles. Solid Honduras Mahogany wood neck with graphite rod for added stability and increased sustain of the ukulele. Gabon ebony wood fingerboard and bridge and a matching Gabon ebony wood top headstock plate in keeping with the elegant theme of the instrument. Mother-of-pearl shell rosette and matching soundboard purfling, giving it a stark contrast with that of the subdued colors of the Redwood soundboard. Jet-black ebony wood top and back binding with a gorgeous golden curly Koa wood bound fretboard for ease of play up and down the neck. Bone nut and saddle. Matching scroll inlay on the fingerboard, bridge, and matching position markers have been inlaid on positions 3, 5, 7, 10, 12, and 15. Classic headstock design with DeVine logo in mother-of-pearl. Elegant black-white pin-striped purfling on top, back, and sides. A side sound port for monitor-like effect and professional fine-tune Waverly machine tuners for precise tuning and classic appeal. This instrument has one repair on the soundboard that extends from the bottom of the bridge at the G-string toward the butt of the instrument. Eric meticulously repaired the hairline and also cleated it from the underside giving it added stability. Finally, a new coat of nitrocellulose high-gloss finish has been applied to the instrument.
