A 25 year milestone for Kanile’a Ukulele is celebrated in this exquisite instrument designed by company co-owner and master luthier Joe Souza. Starting with a 5A Master Grade curly koa solid body and contrasting maple wood binding, elements of the 25th Anniversary ukulele can be seen with 17 grams of Sterling Silver melted, shaped, polished and engraved by hand locally in Waikiki by a long time friend of Kaimana Souza and is Representative of the company’s 25th Anniversary or Silver Anniversary. The Kanile’a Platinum 2023 carries forward the tradition of the Kanile’a thin slotted headstock outfitted with ultralight 16:1 ratio Gotoh Stealth geared tuners. Add to that the company’s exclusive TRU-R (Total Resonating Ukulele Redesigned) bracing and a Mass Reduction Channel for even more vibration and resonance and you have an ukulele that is a delight to play. The instrument was meticulously handcrafted and cared for, virtually going unplayed for the entire time it was owned. The instrument has a very full and beautiful sound. Wonderful sustain and projection. Nice punchy attack from an all Koa wood instrument with excellent low notes and clarity as well.
