Custom G-String ‘James Hill’ Tenor Ukulele

Rare find! Professional instrument / Rare collectors item. Custom made G-String ‘James Hill – Signature Series’ Tenor Ukulele by Derek Shimizu, President of G-String Ukulele Co.

Derek handcrafted this beautiful instrument of master grade curly maple back and sides and spruce top. The fretboard and bridge are fashioned from ebony wood. There is a slight radius on the fretboard for ease of play. The instrument boasts a Hawaiian koa wood center seam strip on the back and beautiful matching Hawaiian koa wood headstock cap. Faux tortoise shell top and back binding with black-white top purfling, Hawaiian koa wood rosewood rosette and Hawaiian koa wood pick guard. G-String paua shell inlay on the headstock. The instrument also has professional Grover machine tuners, a button strap on the back of the headstock and a Fishman Prefix “Pro-Blend” pick-up for quick and professional plug and play capacity. Cutaway model just like what James Hill loves for easy reach high up on the neck.

Excellent playability and wonderful sustain. The tones and clarity are absolutely amazing on this instrument. Nice deep lows with well balanced mid-range and crisp highs all the way up the neck. The string action is set very well and makes the instrument a true joy to play. New-old stock instrument. The intonation is perfect as well.

This model has been since discontinued since James Hill no longer exclusively performs with a G-String Ukulele. There are a very limited number of these instruments that have been handcrafted for the public and this one is numbered No. 39. I highly recommend G-String Ukuleles as they are wonderful instruments and are absolutely amazing! This particular model, James Hill Signature Series is both a collectible and a recording artists dream.
