Absolutely incredible in all aspects of construction and sound.
Premium master grade African Blackwood back and sides with a gorgeous Adirondack spruce soundboard. African Blackwood is considered to be one of the hardest and densest woods in the world. The tree itself grows between 20 – 30 feet in height and is most commonly found in Central and South Africa. In the world of guitar and ukulele luthiery, African Blackwood is renowned for its wonderful tone; specifically, its low end with a balanced punchiness often compared to the tonal qualities offered by Brazilian Rosewood. It is infrequently used in guitar or ukulele luthiery due to the cost of acquiring the materials and in the right hands it produces an absolutely wonderful sound. Classic Hawaiian Koa wood top and back binding with matching bound fretboard and bound headstock. Radiused bone nut and saddle. Radiused Gabon Ebony wood fretboard and bridge with ebony wood bridge pins and paua shell inlay. Mother-of-pearl position markers have been inlaid on the bound fretboard for a top down perspective.
Beautiful paua shell inlay on the soundboard with a double paua shell and sandwiched Hawaiian Koa wood rosette with black wood accent lines around the sound hole and top. Wood purfling lines stained red on the back and sides of the instrument as well as around the side sound port of the ukulele for a nice subtle but elegant contrast to the piece. Matching HawaiianKoa wood veneered headstock on the back with an Ebony wood top veneer and classy Scheurenbrand logo inlaid from paua shell and mother-of-pearl. Additional side sound port for monitor-like experience. Mahogany wood neck, Jescar EVO Gold fretwire and fine-tune Waverly tuners for precise tuning and classic appeal. Nitrocellulose high-gloss finish. Pick guard installed on upper bout of the ‘A-String’. See photos for details.
