Custom Moore Bettah Tenor Ukulele. Beautiful pre-owned Custom Moore Bettah ‘Milo wood and Spruce’ tenor ukulele handcrafted by luthier Chuck Moore of Opihikao, HI. Chuck handcrafts some of not only the most aesthetically pleasing custom ukuleles available on the market but also professional recording level instruments for both the professional musician and recreational player.
Built in 2012, this Custom Moore Bettah ukulele is great for both the backyard jam and stage performance. It has all the benefits of a full voice and range in tones with superb volume and clarity. The back and sides of the instrument are handcrafted of rare and coveted Hawaiian Milo wood, handpicked on the Island of Hawaii and the soundboard was fashioned from musician’s grade Sitka spruce with a three fan soundboard bracing pattern and Honduran mahogany ladder back bracing. The neck has been carved from solid Spanish cedar wood with a carbon fiber reinforced rod, decreasing the overall weight of the instrument while increasing sustain. The fretboard has been crafted of exotic Hawaiian Macadamia nut wood and bound with Hawaiian Koa wood with an East-Indian Rosewood bridge. In keeping with the overall theme of the instrument, a matching Hawaiian Macadamia nut wood rosette and slotted headstock overlay was also fashioned for this beautiful ukulele. The top and back binding, fretboard binding, and headstock binding are all handcrafted from prized Hawaiian curly Koa wood that was harvested from fallen logs removed from the Koa belt on the island of Hawai’i, roughly 4,000 – 6,000 feet elevation above sea level. The Hawaiian Koa binding presents an elegant contrast with that of the Hawaiian Milo wood, which only grows in coastal areas near the shoreline. Gorgeous mother-of-pearl Hawaiian ‘Plumeria’ inlay on the headstock and fingerboard with matching abalone shell position markers. Elegant Hawaiian Koa wood heel cap. The tuners are professional Grover Sta-Tite tuners for precise tuning. Pick up installed for quick plug-n-play feature. Bone nut and saddle and a high gloss poreless nitrocellulose finish.
All of Chuck’s ukuleles are meticulously crafted from the finest materials and with stunning attention to detail and tone. They are amongst the most sought after ukuleles and yet some of the most difficult to acquire. The Hawaiian Milo wood back and sides and Spruce soundboard give this instrument a nice warm and balanced tone with clean notes all the way up the neck.
