Extremely wonderful full original condition Kamaka ‘White Label’ tenor ukulele from the 1980s. This gorgeous tenor ukulele is one of the most sought after generations of Kamaka ukuleles by local musicians here in Hawaii. In fact, this one was previously owned by a musician who continues to perform at the historical Halekulani hotel in Waikiki, HI. It is one of his prized ukuleles but he has a number of great playing Kamaka ukuleles and wanted to add a slightly alternate tone to his options of professional musical instruments and purchased a vintage mahogany ukulele from the 1950s for a more historical tone. That being said, this is one of the best Kamaka ukuleles I’ve come across in the tenor size. It has remarkable projection and sustain and excellent clarity as well. In addition, it was meticulously cared for. No cracks. No repairs. No needed repairs. Just a few small surface strums over the upper bout area and that’s it! It is a ‘must have’ for the ukulele player or enthusiast looking for that classic 1980s vintage Kamaka sound.
The face, back, and sides are handcrafted from gorgeous Hawaiian Koa wood and this instrument also boasts a curly Koa wood neck and a Koa wood fretboard and bridge. Excellent projection and sustain with nice warm and traditional Kamaka tones. Intonation is set well and ease of play is absolutely wonderful on this instrument. Center balanced in terms of overall weight of the instrument which makes it easy to cradle as well. Highly recommended ukulele. This piece is a phenomenal player instrument that continues to hold a very strong collectible value.
