A beautiful and extremely rare example of a Gibson ETU-1 acoustic-electric steel string tenor ukulele. This unique tenor ukulele was handcrafted between 1949 to 1953 with a limited number of 88 ever being produced.
Handcrafted of Honduran mahogany wood, the ETU-1 boasts a Humbucking style pick up complete with 1 volume knob, 1 tone knob, and a standard 1/4 inch jack in full functional order. The uke also features intricate inlays of mother-of-pearl for fingerboard position markers, a rosewood fretboard and bridge, and a steel string set up.
The tones are subtle when played acoustically and without the pick up but when plugged in the instrument takes on an entirely new personality. We’ve recorded this instrument acoustically as well as with a DI to the factory Gibson Humbucking style pick up for your comparison purposes. ID#:180149
