Custom G-String Tenor Ukulele
An extremely rare full Custom G-String ‘Signature Series’ Tenor Ukulele handcrafted on the island of Hawaii by Derek Shimizu of G-String Ukulele Co. The ‘Signature Series’ is regarded as the premiere line of ukulele handcrafted by Derek Shimizu and is reserved to only a very limited number of pieces per year. Each is handcrafted with the utmost attention to detail and tone from the finest woods and luthier materials.
This gorgeous Custom G-String ‘Signature Series’ Tenor Ukulele was handcrafted of rare Hawaiian Milo Wood back and sides with a Bear Claw Sitka Spruce top. Solid Honduran Mahogany wood neck for added stability and increased sustain, Ebony wood fretboard and bridge with a gorgeous Hawaiian Koa wood top and back binding for an elegant appeal, and an in-line tuner ‘Fender-style’ headstock design attributing to a very unique personality of its own. The instrument also boasts a stunningly beautiful ‘paua’ or abalone shell top purfling and headstock abalone shell purfling, matching abalone shell with double Koa wood rosette, and accent lines throughout the top, back, sides, rosette, fingerboard and headstock of this amazing piece. A hand cut rose inlay of abalone shell and mother of pearl has been meticulously inlaid in to the fingerboard for a classic appeal. The instrument also has professional Gotoh machine tuners for precise tuning and a pore less high gloss finish that is mirror-like in nature.
Excellent playability and wonderful clarity and sustain. The tones and clarity are absolutely amazing on this instrument. Nice deep lows with well balanced mid-range and crisp highs all the way up the neck. The string action is set very well and makes the instrument a true joy to play. The intonation is perfect as well. I highly recommend G-String Ukuleles, they are wonderful instruments and are absolutely amazing but the ‘Signature Series’ is truly a benchmark piece on the landscape of premium ukuleles!
