Extremely rare custom Lichty tenor ukulele handcrafted by Jay Lichty of Lichty Guitars in Tyron, NC. Jay handcrafts a stunningly beautiful instrument with tones that are nothing short of a true custom ukulele. This particular ukulele has been preowned by has gone virtually unplayed since it’s completion in 2013.
This particular piece is handcrafted from Wenge wood on the back and sides with a special ‘sinker’ redwood soundboard. A highly sought after African hardwood, Wenge is regarded as the contemporary “go to” wood for those interested in a tone similar to that of Brazilian Rosewood. The fretboard and bridge are handcrafted of musician’s grade Macassar ebony wood and the neck is carved from solid Honduras mahogany for added stability. Gorgeous hand cut paua shell rosette and classic ‘L’ logo for aesthetic appeal. This wood combination has a very elegant feel with the hues of the Wenge back and sides being complimentary to that of the sinker Redwood soundboard. A very nice touch aesthetically but an even better wood combination sonically! Hawaiian Koa wood top and back binding for a subtle but elegant contrast. The fretboard markers have been inlaid with mother-of-pearl on positions 5, 7, 10, 12, and 15 for quick reference. High gloss nitrocelluloise finish with a mirror-like . Professional pick up installed for quick plug and play.
Absolutely amazing overtones and a true joy to play. Excellent projection, sustain, and presence. The set up is nice as well and is easy to play all the way up the neck. Great for picking or strumming. Highly recommended!
