Custom Scheurenbrand Ukulele. Beautiful New Custom Scheurenbrand 4-String Tenor Ukulele handcrafted by luthier Rollo Scheurenbrand of Kailua, HI. Rollo handcrafts some of not only the most aesthetically pleasing ukuleles available on the market but also professional recording level instruments for both the professional musician and recreational player.
Built with the utmost attention to detail, integrity, and tone, the top is handcrafted from master grade tight grain Redwood for a warm and well-rounded tone and the back and sides are of the coveted Brazilian Rosewood, one of the world’s finest tone woods available on the market. Gorgeous maple wood and Hawaiian Koa wood full body purfling lines with a curly Hawaiian Koa wood top and back binding and matching maple and Koa wood end graph combination. All Koa was grown on the Island of Hawai`i. The neck has been handcarved from Port Orford cedar and is very robust as a neck wood. It is light in weight and creamy white in color and extremely integrous, allowing for maximum transference of vibration through the neck and down in to the sound box of the instrument. A truss rod has also been inserted for added structural integrity and sustain.
Being that Port Orford cedar is quite creamy white in its natural state, Rollo has also sunburst the neck to pay homage to the natural hues and shading of the Redwood and Brazilian Rosewood combination, making for a beautiful progression of coloration between all three wood combinations. The fretboard has also been slightly radiused for ease of play on the wrist angle of the player and is crafted of master grade Macassar Ebony wood. Matching curly Hawaiian Koa wood fretboard binding for smooth play up and down the neck. Gorgeous abalone rosette, top purling, and matching position markers on the side of the fingerboard for a top down point of reference. The heel cap also has a hand-cut piece of Hawaiian Koa wood for aesthetic appeal and the logo has been cut of mother-of-pearl and abalone shell as a signature mark of Scheurenbrand Ukuleles. Slotted headstock model for refined appeal and increased sustain with professional Gilbert classical guitar geared tuners and Ebony wood buttons for precise tuning. Bone nut and saddle. High gloss Cardinal nitrocellulose lacquer finish and a K&K Twin-Spot pick up installed for quick plug and play feature round off this amazing instrument.
The Brazilian rosewood back and sides, combined with the redwood top, give this instrument a deep resonant tone. The radial bracing also helps enhance the depth of tone. Nice crisp and clean tones all the way up the neck. Deep lows with a nice balanced mid-rage and crispy high notes as well. The tones are absolutely wonderful on this piece ~ very chocolately and complex all the way up the neck with excellent clarity, wonderful sustain and excellent projection as well.
