Custom 6-String G-String ‘Employee’ Superconcert Ukulele

Custom 6-String G-String ‘Employee’ Superconcert Ukulele from the early 2000s, this piece was handcrafted by one of the employees of G-String Ukulele Co. as their personal piece. G-String company president, Derek Shimizu. allowed each employee to build an ukulele for their own enjoyment and refining of skills. This is an excellent example of one of those wonderful custom ukuleles.

This beautiful and rare Custom 6-String G-String ‘Employee’ Superconcert Ukulele remains in beautifully refinished and restored condition and has a tenor scale with a concert sized body. The uke has a gorgeous flamey quilted maple wood face, back and sides that has been stained an elegant reddish-brown for aesthetic appeal. Ebony wood fretboard and bridge with matching ebony headstock plate. Black faux top binding with abalone shell top purfling on the soundboard and beautiful wood and double abalone rosette for aesthetic appeal. Curly Maple wood neck. Original tuners. Internal vintage style wood tag inside of soundhole with the builder’s initials on neck block plate. Refinished with a high gloss nitrocellulose finish for a stunning glassy appeal. One repair on the soundboard on the side of the g-string below the bridge. See photos for closeups. Totally stable and purely cosmetic in issue.

An ‘Employee’ model is a rare find and quite unique as it does not lend itself to any particular model. This uke offers wonderful tones with a balanced low, mid-range and top end section offered by the Maple wood.  Excellent sustain, projection, and clarity all the way up the neck. The action is set well and it is well balanced.
