Custom Pegasus ’12 String’ Guitar
Custom Pegasus Guitar. Beautiful New Pegasus 12-String ‘Style 0’ size body Guitar (completed March 2013 – never preowned) handcrafted in the traditional shape by luthier Bob Gleason of Kurtistown, HI. Bob handcrafts some of not only the most aesthetically pleasing guitars and ukuleles available on the market but also professional recording level instruments for both the professional musician and recreational player.
Built in the traditional body style of the style 0, the instrument is great for both travel or stage performance. It has all the benefits of a slightly smaller sized body with the volume and projection of a full-sized instrument. The top, back and sides of the instrument are made of gorgeous curly Hawaiian Koa wood, handpicked on the Island of Hawai`i. The colors of the Koa are reddish-brown with some subtle golden hues which adds depth to the three-dimension of the tiger stripping in the wood. The neck has been carved from solid Honduran mahogany wood with an adjustable truss rod accessed from the inside of the body for fine adjusting, if necessary. The fretboard has been slightly radiused for ease of play on the wrist angle of the player and is crafted of musicians-grade ebony wood. The bridge and bridge pins are also handcrafted of ebony wood. The top and back binding are handcrafted from prized Hawaii-grown milo wood and compliments the subtle shades of variation in the Koa with great elegance. Gorgeous matching master grade Hawaiian Koa wood headstock veneer for aesthetic appeal. There is an abalone rosette and mother-of-pearl ‘Pegasus’ inlay on the headstock with abalone shell position markers. Special ‘kahiko’ hula dancers inlaid on the fretboard and bridge. The heel cap also has a hand-cut piece of abalone shell and the logo cut of mother-of-pearl as a signature mark of Pegasus Guitars & Ukuleles. All the shell inlay is solid shell. No laminates were used. The tuners are professional Grover close-geared tuners with black ebony buttons for precise tuning. Mi-Si active no/battery preamp with Fishman transducer bridge element for quick plug-n-play feature. Added custom feature with hand-carved koa wood volume knob. Bone nut and saddle and a high gloss poreless nitrocellulose finish. The size is an ‘0’ size body with a 25.5″ full scale neck.
All of Bob’s guitars and ukuleles are meticulously crafted from the finest materials and with stunning attention to detail. They are amongst the most sought after ukuleles and yet some of the most difficult to acquire. A true work of art aesthetically with some of the cleanest luthiery techniques employed by the 21st century ukulele luthier. Bob’s instruments have perfectly set intonation, are very cleanly built, and offer precise tones all the way up the neck. The Hawaiian Koa face, back and sides give this instrument a nice bright and balanced tone and very full sounding with the 12-string combination. Truly symphonic in its breath of tones and range. Nice crisp and clean notes all the way up the neck with deep lows with a nice balanced mid-rage and crispy high notes as well.
